In 1972 he published a book of poems, The Space and in 1974, at the Zvezda published a paper about the last years of Pushkin's life. And from that hour the historical journalism became his main occupation. In the late 1980's - early 1990 took an active part in the political life of the Leningrad-Petersburg - was a member of the board DVR and the SPS. Since the early 1990s, along with Andrew Aryan publishes the magazine Zvezda.
