In the holiday village where Benedict Strukachev lives, an inexplicable way is killed by a young scientist and archaeologist who took part in the excavations of an ancient burial on the territory of Altai. A year later, under mysterious circumstances, his mother dies. Police tend to conclude that the mother and son were killed in an accident. But when the corpse of the archaeologist's father was found with traces of torture, the police were forced to agree that all the killings were links of one chain. Benedict Strukachev starts an investigation, as a result of which he becomes the owner of a mysterious artifact.
